KOREAN FACIAL COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE

COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE Q & A

Following the sharp spike in popularity of cosmetic surgery over the past two decades, the beauty tide finally seems to be turning. The days of the “frozen face” are giving way to a desire for a more natural look through gentler treatments, as the increasing interest in wellness encourages people to embrace all things holistic.

There is a reason acupuncture has been popular since ancient times: It makes people feel better. What’s more, in recent years, patients undergoing the procedure to treat health concerns have often noticed  a benefit to their appearance, as well, leading to a rise in “cosmetic acupuncture.”  Cosmetic acupuncture  combines whole-body rebalancing with targeted needle stimulation (and, sometimes, spa-like add-ons) for glowing skin.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), we look at the face as a reflection of what’s going on inside. In other words, the lasting solution to your breakouts or sagging skin might not be a cream or device, but rather a healthier, more balanced body.  It works internally to optimize your health while simultaneously enhancing the appearance of your skin.

De-Puff

A swollen face is likely a sign of larger issues that acupuncture is designed to address. If you have digestive problems, allergies, or poor lymphatic drainage, what you may see in the face is puffiness which will be adjusted from the inside, not with creams.

Clear Up Acne

Acupuncture’s rebalancing effect has a way of calming breakouts, whether chronic or caused by monthly hormonal fluctuations. We look at acne as a reflection of internal heat, and the digestive system.  We can adjust premenstrual breakouts through acupuncture as well by treating the heat that arises in the body during certain times of the month.

Calm Rosacea

Similar to acne, it’s about adjusting that internal balance within.  In Chinese medicine, Rosacea is often about digestion. We are able to minimize redness and irritation in the skin tissue by clearing up digestive issues.

Brighten Dull Skin

Acupuncture can boost a lackluster complexion both directly, by triggering local healing processes in the face and indirectly, by re-calibrating bodily systems. Simply by putting a needle in the skin, you’re stimulating skin circulation, lymphatic drainage, and collagen production.  Dullness can often be a lack of energy flowing through the body properly. We work to raise your energy and balance what’s going on in your body.

Tighten and Tone

Whether your concern is the gravitational pull on your legs or slack facial skin, a few needle pricks can help to firm things up. Acupuncture is absolutely amazing for muscle tone and deeper tissue tone in the body.  It will help to relax the deeper muscles that are too tight and tighten the ones that are loose. It’s really good for lifting and sculpting the cheeks and jawline, and even for lifting eyebrows.

Facial enhancement acupuncture (FEA )

What is FEA?

Facial Enhancement Acupuncture (also known as Cosmetic Acupuncture, Facial Revitalization or Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture) targets points and muscles of the face in order to improve the elasticity of the skin and general overall appearance, as well as addressing constitutional points on the legs, arms and body to balance and harmonize the inner elements.

As well as significantly improving the cosmetic appearance, Facial Acupuncture also has a strong whole-body effect on the health and wellbeing of the person treated.

Overall FEA naturally helps make the skin look younger, smoother, and all-around healthier. And unlike injection procedures, facial acupuncture addresses not only signs of aging, but also the skin’s overall health.

How does it works ?

FEA is for anyone who is concerned about the effects of the aging process on their skin.

Collagen production begins to deteriorate from the age of 26 which is when the skin often shows the first signs of aging. If we think back to all the moments we have spent stressed, worried, sad, or angry, those are toxic moments that have potentially damaging effects on our bodies and over time begin to alter our youthful appearance. Lines appear, jawlines, eyes and muscles sag. Environmental factors and pollution also dull the complexion over time. As we know, anti-aging is not just about wrinkles; sagging in areas like the jowls and puffiness of the eyes can lead to a less-youthful appearance.

1: Micro-needles stimulate micro-circulation of the  blood and lymph, to nourish the skin, increase oxygen flow, and accelerate elimination of cellular waste.

2: Micro-needles cause a micro-trauma that   stimulate the skin’s self-repairing mechanisms, bringing all its healing potential to the surface of the skin, stimulating the body to produce collagen.

3: Ultra-fine needles activate muscles in the face and neck to lift and improve their tone.

This helps improve elasticity, minimizing fine lines and wrinkles, clear and brighten the complexion, reduce redness and impart a youthful glow. It’s as though the skin has been awakened from a long, deep sleep. All the fresh blood and oxygen flood the face and really bring it back to life.

Also, regular acupuncture points on the body are used to promote general health and reduce stress. This helps give that well-rested, bright-eyed glow. I also find when people feel better, they start looking after themselves better, for example, by drinking more water.

FEA is gentle and non-toxic. It isn’t just a safer, it is more affordable than surgery or Botox. Unlike Botox or dermal fillers, facial acupuncture isn’t a quick fix.

FEA is gentle and non-toxic , isn’t just a safer option, but also more affordable than surgery or Botox. unlike Botox or dermal fillers, facial acupuncture isn’t a quick fix of any kind.

The focus is to create long-term changes in the health of the skin and body, not quick fixes. The results accumulate over time.

Consistency is essential. With each treatment, collagen will continue to return to the treated area.  Better collagen stimulation, brightened skin tone, reduced jaw tension, and a softer overall appearance on top of health benefits like reduced anxiety and tension. A course of treatment takes several weeks to administer, allowing the body time between sessions to build collagen and rejuvenate.

Patients will see a noticeable difference after the third treatment. Appointments are always booked in blocks of six or 10, once a week. After that, you can go into “maintenance stage,” where you have a treatment every four to eight weeks.

Any complication?

The most common side effect for facial acupuncture, or any acupuncture, is bruising.

This only happens about 20 percent of the time but is still a possibility. To avoid bruising and achieve the best results, the person receiving the treatment should be in good health for maximum healing capabilities. This is why people with bleeding disorders or uncontrolled type 2 diabetics shouldn’t seek this treatment.
